| Overall the resort was nice, quiet and very scenic. The food was good and flavourful, I will say we upgraded to the Royal Club and found that there is no difference and would not do it again if we go back there. We went with a guy on the beach for day trips his name is Marvin we used him twice and both times he took the payment at the end of the trip, he is personable, knowledgable and spoke good english I would use him if I go back, also he did come down on his prices. It was a nice relaxing vacation. |

| Costa Rica is a beautiful place to visit. This was our first time and it won't be the last in Costa Rica and at the RIU. |
|
| Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel |
| The hotel staff did a great job of keeping you active if you wanted to be. There was always lots to do from water activities to dancing by the pool or at the evening show. We went to relax and play in the ocean and no one bothered us to do anything more. There are lots of day trips available and we chose one day of zip-lineing through the trees, the horseback ride (none of us had any experience with horses) to the hot springs and mud bath. It was a great trip. We spent another day on the river cruise through the rainforest and saw a lot of birds, monkeys, alligators and lizards. They even stopped the bus so we could get a picture of a large snake on the road. Lunch was provided on both these tours and it was great. |

| Beach/Pools/Grounds |
| Pools and grounds are immaculate. Lots of room and always easy to find a lounge either in the sun or the shade. Everything very well kept and clean. The beach is good but the ocean is quite active so the first few feat into the water had a lot of small stones. We had our water shoes so it was not a problem at all. Also lots of lounges on the beach. |

| One can always find something wrong with a resort but we could not. It was a great trip and we are going back. |
|
| Restaurants and Bars |
| All excellent. Great selection and quality at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants provided a nice change. Food and service excellent. Great service at all the bars. |
|
| Rooms |
| Very spacious, spotless and appealing. I saw that some people thought the beds were too hard but ours were great. Room was spotless every day even when we brought half the beach sand back with us. Bar fridge stocked every 2 days as promised and we had some special requests that were eagerly met. We had asked for extra pillows and towels and within minutes they arrived at our door. As always we had brought our own shampoo and conditioners but packets were provided. |
|
| Your Arrival |
| The RIU is isolated but it is a great experience to travel to this location. Check in was seemless and everyone on hand was so friendly and helpful. It was only minutes from the time our bus dropped us off until we got into our room. |

We traveled with two children 9 & 6 yrs old. This resort was the second half of our week after coming from the Tabacon Grand Spa Resort at the Arenal Volcano. (Which by the way we highly recommend for every traveler to Costa Rica.)
So after doing the rainforest/volcano thing we wanted an all-inclusive family friendly resort at the beach. A beautiful resort where we could relax and have the choice to do any number of activities from the various costa rican tourist activities to the various water sports that most beach resorts offer. ...And lucky for us we did in fact find what we were looking for at the Paradisus playa conchal.
We stayed in a family concierge suite and it was well worth the small increase in price. We were treated like kings. The kids get spoiled with goodies likes t-shirts and cookies but the real benefit is the concierge service that you have all day long! They are practically by your side when you are at the pool (beautiful) serving you drinks, food, discussing dinner reservations, giving suggestions for activites, and they will pretty much drop everything to get you what you need immediately. Whether you are at the pool, in your room or anywhere in the resort. You don't have to lift a finger (except to take care of your own kids ;).
The only small downside was the beach. The beach is beautiful however it's not private to only the resort. So you walk out of the resort gate and you have to wade through local vendors selling you their goods and services. So you kind of lose that luxury resort feel while you are at the beach section. But overall, there any many good things at the beach which is that it is close to the pool area, you have the choice to do many different water activities and many that are included in the all-inclusive price, and that the beach is nice with fairly soft sand and some waves for body surfing.
So if you are looking for a good all-inclusive resort you will be happy with this choice. |

| Arrival: Dec 2008/Jan 2009 |
| We arrived in San Jose on Dec. 30,08. Customs was very quick. There were 11 people in our party, including a 9 month old baby. We decided to take the short flight from San Jose to Tambor ( remember to take your bathing suit with you as your luggage will go on the ferry and arrive later at the resort). Great trip, amazing scenary. Check in was fast.and friendly |

| Rooms |
| We were in the green building (600's) right beside the Nature Park and the ocean. It was only a short walk to everything, but far enough away not to be disturbed. The Howler Monkeys would come and visit the fruit trees infront of our rooms everyday, and there were iguanas everywhere :). Rooms were really clean, Mini bar in some the rooms was stocked daily with pop, water and beer, other rooms did have to ask for it to be refilled but this was no problem. Lots of Hot water, A/C was awesome. Rooms on the corners of the building had hamocks on their balconies and they all had tables and chairs. |

| Our family of 5 spent the first two nights of our Costa Rica vacation at the Montana de Fuego resort, which is at the base of Arenal Volcano. The rooms are actually rustic cabins with fantastic views of the volcano. We rented two units, one for us parents and one for the 3 kids. The folks who run the resort were extremly helpful and cheerful. Each room had air conditioning, TV and phone service, which made it all that much more comfortable for us. The pool was very nice and included a jacuzzi. While there, we booked a canopy tour directly with the tour company. The tour is a thrilling run, very high above the jungle. If your nervous with heights, you may rethink it. The kids loved it. We also enjoyed the hot springs (don't miss this) and had a very nice, inexpensive meal in the local town "La Fortuna". Although we did not do this, you may want to consider renting a car so that you can spin around the other side of the volcano to see lava flows and Arenal Lake. The volcano did erupt several times while we where there and booms and smoke were visible from the resort. Also, I enjoyed watching the many humming birds and other exotic birds visiting the resort. Overall, I rate the Montana de Fuego a 4 star resort and highly recommend you stay for 3 nights so as to take in all the sights. |
