This trip was my first all inclusive vacation to Cuba,...the welcome was great, we were brought to our room, the safe did not work, but it was fixed about a half an hour after I called the front desk...the rooms were clean and kept clean every day, dry towels and all...unfortunately, we had to pay 2 pesos for a bottle of water, but the bars had no problem filling the bottles for us...the food was ok, but nothing spectacular, however, the '' la carte'' restaurants were excellent...the beach was nice, but people left their cigarette butts on the beach, so that was a bit unpleasant...also, we arrived on sunday and weren't able to get clean and dry beach towels until thursday because the facilities to clean them were out of service..the service at the restaurants and bars was good..., we had to check out at 12, and the pick up for the airport was at 23 30, so we enjoyed the beach with our bags in a secure luggage room, and we had a courtesy room, free, to get cleaned up and changed before the flight.... I'm very happy with my package...

We stayed at Brisas del Caribe for our first visit to Cuba. We went as part of a wedding group. The room was simple but adequate. Our maid did a good job and kept us well stocked with towels and so on. We had a mini fridge to store drinks. We weren't too impressed with the food, but it was what we expected for Cuba. We had a few negative experiences with the staff: Upon arrival, the bellboy who drove us to our room grumbled because our party was in two separate buildings and he had to make two trips. His attitude improved somewhat when we tipped him for his trouble. On our second night, one of the waiters in the buffet restaurant threw a temper tantrum because our party of 14 asked to have some tables pushed together. He ranted that we hadn't given them any notice of a large party. When he got agitated, we suggested he let us move the tables ourselves if it was such a big deal. For some reason, that got him really angry. We then said, "Forget it. We'll just sit in separate groups." He ignored us and began pushing the tables together, all the while ranting and making insulting remarks in Spanish (which he didn't realize I could understand). Despite the posted hours of the shops and the currency exchange booth in the main foyer, it became a running joke for our group that they were never open. They were supposed to be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., but the staff frequently wandered off and closed the shops for hours at a stretch. A couple of the bartenders seemed to like making nasty jokes at the guests' expense (again, not realizing that I could understand Spanish). I had a friendly conversation in Spanish with one of the security guards on the second day. This was okay at first, but after a while, he began to complain about the condition of his clothing, how poor his family was, how little he was paid (all of which, I'm sure, was true). But the day before we were due to go back, he found me on the beach, asked me to follow him into a grove of palm trees, and asked me outright for money to help his family, which made me decidedly uncomfortable. He wrote out his address on a piece of paper, told me I was his "hermano" (brother), and asked me to talk it over with my wife. On another occasion, a groundsperson smiled and said hello to us. When I said hello back, he grabbed a coconut and said he was wanted to give it to my wife. My wife said "No thanks" in English, and I said "No thanks" in Spanish, but he proceeded to cut up the coconut with a machete over our protests and handed it to my wife. He then put out his hand for a tip. I understand that Cubans are paid miserably and are looking for a little extra, but we had a few instances in which the staff would do "extra" things for us, ignoring our protests of "no thanks," and then expect a tip. Despite these issues with some of the staff, we were generally happy with the resort and loved the beach.

Overceeding our expectation. On line info do not allow to fully appreciate a lot of details that made our staying really enjoyable. Very good service both at beach and at bar/restaurant (many thanks Arley)all over 24 h. Facing one of the most beautiful beach in Varadeo. Just one note : pina colada at Taino bar is served without milk.

I just returned from Cuba yesterday. We had a wonderful time. The hotel beach was absolutely breath taking, in fact the best I have ever seen and I have done a lot of travelling. The food was not that great and selection was fairly limited but for Cuba it was o.k.!! However, most of the staff and the beach definately made up for the mediocre cuisine. I will go back to Cuba again for my 3rd time and I would also stay at the same hotel!!!

My best friend and I stayed at the Brisas del Caribe for 2 weeks in Nov. 07. The hotel and entertainment staff was above and beyond our expections. I am already looking at going back for another 2 wks at the beginning of the new year. The hotel was clean, food was excellent and the staff was totally awesome. The one regret that I do have is that I did not get the address of some of the staff so I could stay in touch until the next time we meet .. Once again, THANKS again for 2 unforgettable weeks ... See you soon .. I miss you all ..........

April 2005 My husband and I stayed for two weeks at this resort. We had been booked at another resort, and traded to the Brisas del Caribe due to poor hotel quality. We were impressed with the service. The staff especially Roman,Marilyn and Olympia were amazing. We fell in love with Cuba, and the wonderful people we met there. Spending the last 11 days of our 2week vacation there certainly changed our minds about going back to Cuba. We enjoyed this resort so much that we will be there again this March 2006 for two weeks. This time there will be 10 of our family going. I can't wait for my family to enjoy the hospitality of this resort and the Cuban people..see you on the beach....I'll be the one with the mojita and the big smile.....

I cant begin to explain the wonderful time I experienced at The Brisas del Caribe Resort. The staff was excellent! The day trips and excursions left me with unforgetable memories! (sunset river tour... Al Copnes house...etc.) When I visit Cuba again, I will be sure to stay here again without a question. I reccommend this hotel.... great price, great fresh food, fantastic staff and great weather! Go for it!

My firend and I spent 2 weeks at Brisas del Caribe Hotel the first two weeks in February 2005. Overall it was very clean and decorated with vibrant colours. The best thing about the Hotel was the Restaurant which provided a wide variety of food which was excellent. On the whole the staff were friendly and welcoming if a little curt, but that was probably due to limited English. The Entertainment Team start pretty early so be prepared to hear the call to get involved in the day's activity soon after breakfast. Due to it's proximity to town, if you choose to leave the complex in the evening it can work out expensive by taxi. I love Cuba and would definitely consider returning to Varadero sometime in the future.
