Plaza Hotel Havana Angela
October 2005

I stayed here in October this year 2005. I picked the Plaza due to its location and the pictures that I had seen on internet. This was my 5th time in Havana and the only time that I have been upset due to accomodation. The entrance to the Plaza is fantastic with lovely marble and I have to say that the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. I arrived late at night and was so upset when I saw my room. It was horrible, I was hit with a really damp musty smell and over powering heat. The room was very dark despite all the lights being on, which maybe was a blessing. Curtains were hanging off the rail. The bathroom was a disgrace, the shower did not work and would not stay on the holder, i would not use the toiler. I tried to wash at the sink but sdaly, only a trickle of water would come out and the plug would not work to keep the trickle of water in. The bed was damp and the pillow scarey. I slept on my beach mat. I did complain and it took a couple of trips to reception to be offered another room, this was no better. i was promised a better room next morning, sadly the 2 they offered were just as bad. Breakfast was a dissapointment too. I contacted my travel company, The Holiday Place in the morning and gladly they organised a quick transfer. I would not recommend this hotel.
