Floris Suite Hotel Francois ~ Belgium
October 2006

We spent 2 weeks in Floris Suite Hotel. The hotel is fine and quiet, rooms are big and clean, staff is friendly, pool is nice. We had a Royal Suite really big and, yes, for the size of the suite the bathroom is small with a surprisingly lack of space to put your toilettries. The fact that every room has a kitchen fully installed, suggest that it aims to the self-catering guest. The restaurant, Sjalotte, strengthens that, for it is a gourmet restaurant, very good but with a limited choice and a fairly steep price. Not for every day. They suggest Hook’s Hut at the beach as an alternative for casual dining. Hook’s Hut is fine but it needs an unpleasant walk at night to and from the hotel, along the service entrance at the back of the Hilton and you need to make reservations. Or you have to go to Willemstad, take the last shuttlebus at 18:00 and return with a taxi (10usd). No supermarket nor shop within walking distance, you need a car. We had diner several times at the Aqua restaurant (buffet style) of the Hilton just across the street. The fitness centre that the hotel boasts is in a small room and is rather symbolic. All information on tours is to be got from the reception, so the quality of information depends largely on who is behind the desk. At departure day we were to be picked up at 15:00 and asked to keep the room until 14:00 instead of 12:00 and were told it was ok but it would cost 50usd extra. We did not bother.

We are not sorry we stayed there, but we will look for alternatives if we go back.
