How to get around
Cancun is divided in two zones, the city zone and the hotel zone. In the city you will find all the amenities and services of a developed community such as banks, restaurants, schools, churches, foreign consulates, markets, hospitals, etc.
The Cancun hotel zone is where you will find all activities and entertainment such as shopping, high rise hotels and resorts, restaurants and the turquoise sea and powdery white beaches.
Cancun Airport is only 7.5 miles (12 km) from downtown Cancun and 12.5 miles (20 km) from the hotel zone. It is a good idea to book your airport transportation ahead of time. You can arrange an airport approved company supply your Cancun transportation. A lot of websites and agencies offer transportation from the airport when booking your Cancun trip. This guarantees that you are booking with an agency that is pre-approved and often much cheaper.
Taxis are widely available at the airport of Cancun, and are regulated by the concession in order to guarantee safety and eliminate scams. Reserving a taxi at the airport is the most expensive rate

ADO is the official transportation company offering service from Cancun International Airport. ADO provides daily service directly to the bus station in downtown Cancun and to the bus station in Playa del Carmen. Buses do not go to hotels and do not make stops on the way.

Cancun is in a short distance from the more traditional Mexican resorts destinations like Isla Mujeres, Cozumel and the coastal zone known as the Riviera Maya extending down from Cancun, all the way to Playa del Carmen, and the Maya ruins.
