Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel
The island Cozumel is located 70 km south of Cancun; 19 km south east of Playa del Carmen and is ranked for years in the top 5 destinations worldwide with more North American visitors than European.
Cozumel is much cozier than the mainland and offers good conditions for scuba divers but also for non-divers such as people like me who go to Cozumel for a nice relaxed vacation enjoying nature, sun, good food and beach. Cozumel has the beautiful warm water of the Caribbean with all the accompanying water sports and seaside activities. . more...

To do and attractions in Cozumel
The Museo de la Isla de Cozumel, a history museum, is an interesting place to visit.
Cozumel’s own Maya Ruins; a popular trip is to San Gervasio. the size or scale of the ruins are of course way smaller than Tulum or Chichén Itzá at the mainland but definitely worth the excursion
Travel agencies can arrange a variety of tours, including horseback, Jeep, and ATV tours. The best horseback tours are offered at Rancho Palmitas
Carnaval is Cozumel's most colorful fiesta, early spring at Thursday before Ash Wednesday.

Scuba Diving
Divers from all over the world come to Cozumel to explore the Mesoamerica Reef, the largest reef in the Western hemisphere. It not only attracts scuba divers, but over 250 species of tropical fish as well as turtles, stingray and much more. And the crystal clear waters allow you to see miles of Caribbean treasure. Many resorts offer scuba classes to help beginners get started.
