Obispo # 109 on the corner with Oficios, Plaza de Armas, Habana Vieja
Bar Restaurant La Mina is hard to miss for anyone visiting Havana due to its size and prominent location on the city’s oldest Square Plaza de Armas, which was constructed during the 17th century.
The Plaza is host to the used book market specialized in publications from Fidel and Che as well as some cool collectors items. La Mina occupies a typical Colonial building that served as a girl school and later became home to Havana’s very poor who lived in very small rooms and makeshift roof top houses which are now converted into artist galleries/studios. The menu is very limited and consists of seven main courses priced between 12 and 28 CUC and a traditional Cuban set meal (14 CUC), which is the house special. (Mojito, rice, black beans, roasted pork in a Creole sauce, a tamale, desert and coffee) Food-wise I can‘t get excited about La mina but the terrace with live entertainment is great for people who like to watch people while sipping on a Mojito.
