Calle Mercaderes esquina a Teniente Rey
Named after Juan Bautista Taberna, its former owner, the Café de Taberna opened onthis very corner around 1772, to become the first café in Havana.
The Café reopens in 1999, now recreating the atmosphere of the 1950s, where the music of Benny Moré "The King of Ryth" captivates its spaces. The restaurant serves excellent coffee and a wide variety of cocktails and dishes from the international cuisine, among them Taberna Chicken and Salad.
Musical groups playing traditional Cuban music and a guest dance couple show off the frenetical Caribbean rhythm and pay tribute to our top son singer. For this reason, people are now calling it the place of "Benny's Friends", his friends of yesterday, today, his everyday friends.
