Obispo # 557, Habana Vieja
The construction of Restaurant La Floridita began during one of Hemingway’s stays in Cuba. Hemingway allegedly was so upset with the restaurant (construction) plans of the owner that he stole a barstool from the bar. Nevertheless, the end-result turned out to be one of the most elegant and exclusive restaurants in Havana. Inside the bar and restaurant you are instantly removed from 21st century Havana. It is this remarkable sensation that justifies the obvious inflated prices. The dining room is fantastic with huge paintings of the Havana bay on the walls, the food elaborate and expensive. Main courses start at 15 CUC for the chicken and rapidly surge to 42 CUC for the Lobster and the Chateaubriand. Restaurant La Floridita is the place for those who like to close in on the ambiance of Havana during times passed by and can afford to do so.
