Calle 48 No 1311 between 13 and 15 Playa, Ciudad de la Habana
La Cocina de Lilliam opened in 1994 and is a privately operated restaurant or Paladar. A Brazilian soap opera shown on Cuban television was what inspired Lilliam and hundreds of other Cubans to start selling food from their homes. This was basically illegal at the time. In an unprecedented move the Government decided to legalize more than 400 establishments in Havana of which at this date only about 20 remain. La Cocina de Lilliam is one of this select few thanks to the outstanding food, the great service and a serene garden setting. It seems close to impossible not to indulge on a three-course meal when you look at the menu. The Chicken Crepes with béchamel, cheese and pineapple as well as the Stewed Lamb prepared with wine, olive oil, olives, peppers, herbs and spices are some examples from the main course menu. Lilliam also offers a selection of vegetarian appetizers like Spinach or Eggplant Lasagna, various Salads, Fried Mushrooms, Eggplant with parmesan cheese and Malanga Fritters. A full meal including drinks will easily ads up to 45 CUC per person. It takes you 15 Minutes from Vedado or 25 minutes by car (taxi) from Old Havana to reach Cocina de Lilliam. If this is no problem for you we suggest you put this restaurant on your list. It is well worth the effort!
