August 2009
Arrival: July 2007 to Aug of 2009
This hotel has been totally redone. They know have a huge sports bar with the nicest pool tables we have seen in Grenada and drink specials every Friday along with traditional local games like bridge and domino's. The bar is called the Jolly Roger and upstairs is the new Pirate Cove for your dining. This place has the nicest view also in Grenada and we know the chef was stolen from the university in Grenada which is responsible for most of the reason people come to Grenada so the guy is top notch.
Rooms:
We have stayed here for 2 years because of my wifes association with the university. We have seen every room and they all are fine for casual stay but nothing is perfect as you will find in most of Grenada the refinements that most have become used to when traveling do not exist in Grenada. Over all the rooms where cleaned nicely and free of bugs or major defect.
Restaurants and Bars:
Top notch! One of the best places to hang out on the island for the view and prices. On Friday night the bar serves 3 beers for 10 ec or about $4 USD and there is not one resort on the island as high as the Grandview so the view is to die for.
Beach/Pools/Grounds:
5 minute walk from the 2 best beaches on the island. The pool is maintained nicely although it is just your plain jane square pool with patio furniture it is nice enough and not ever used because you have such great beaches so close. The resort also stole the grounds keeper from the world famous Port Louis Hotel chain and is currently creating garden after garden.
Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
The front office has all the tours of every other hotel. You must know that in Grenada 80 percent of the GNP comes directly from the University and 19 percent from tourism so not one resort will skip a chance to put you on a tour and set you up with great drivers and guides.
Other Comments:
This is a wonderful vacation resort. They do monthly rentals for as little as $1,000 USD for rooms that can lodge up to a family of 4. The staff is working to improve the grounds everyday and is always friendly to guest and will help in any way possible.

January 2008
my husband and i just returned from a weeks vacation in grenada - we went to grenada with our daughter to get her settled in as she is going to the university there. we did not want to pay a lot of money for accommodation because we were there for our daughter and not really on a holiday.
we did check out various hotels before we booked and the only thing that we actually required was some place with the restaurrant, bar and pool. the grand view inn has a web site that appeared to fit in with what we wanted, and we decided to go ahead and book there.
mistake number one - NEVER BELIEVE A WEB SITE
this place was pathetic .... the bar and restaurant closed down after ivan the hurricane in 2004. we could get breakfast there but there was no choice - just what they had and they tried to give us instant coffee rather than the real thing ..... after one breakfast we decided we were better off to walk down the hill to the other hotels and eat there.
the phones in the rooms did not work - you had to go to the front desk and get them to make calls for you.
we asked for a wake up call one morning which we never did get and our daughter left 3 separate calls to us which again, we never did get.
there was someone who lived there that had 3 dogs which continually barked all nite long - when we mentioned it to the front desk, they just smiled and did nothing.
the picture on the web site shows 2 separare beach areas that supposedly you can see from all the rooms .... no - you can only see a small beach not the grand anse beach that is mentioned in the web site.
ont desk is supposed to be open at 7am until 11pm or so - when we needed to check out to get to the airport, we decided we could do it in the morning - another mistake by us - at 8:30am there was still no one at the front desk so we found ourselves a cab and just left.
this place was one of the worst places we have ever stayed in.
we did spend a lot of time at the flamboyant hotel which was the closest one to where we were staying and their restaurants and bars, beach area and employees were excellent - too bad we did not have a room there.
