Gran Melia Golf Resort Puerto Rico Pictures and Information
Gran Melia Golf Resort Puerto Rico Rio Grande Puerto Rico
Description: A Puerto Rico resort of distinct elegance, explorative in size, and secluded to a verdant swath of land along Puerto Rico's northeastern coast in Coco Beach. Gran Meliá Golf Resort Puerto Rico is a bold utopia of tropical flora and fauna, and sophisticated architecture; swallowed by the turquoise waters of the Atlantic.

I enjoyed the hotel it was beautiful. I heard some negative reviews about the hotel, and didn't beleive any of them after seeing the hotel. Very clean and the staff were amazing. The hotel was beautiful, and the YHI spa wonderful and pampering.
Rooms:
The room was nicely decorated, clean, and a nice resort touch.
Restaurants and Bars:
We didn't eat after the restaurants as we didn't see too many good reviews. In hindsight I could kick myself...I wish we had lounged more at the hotel.
Beach/Pools/Grounds:
The beach at the hotel was rocky, but the hotel pool was great.
Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
We chartered a boat to Culebrita and Tortuga beach was the best. We also went to Culebra, and probably could have skipped that as Culebrita was much nicer. El Yunque was best on our own in the rental car and the La Mina Waterfall was a great place to swim under a waterfall if you are adventurous. Skip lots of driving in Puerto Rico if you can avoid it as it is crazy stressful and the towns really didn't differ that much traveling through the island. We went to Old San Juan and were unimpressed with the souvenier shops there. We attempted to ride horses but the horses kept bucking and fitting to the degree that we gave up an hour into the ride without making it onto the trail. Still waiting for the 110.00 refund on that one. If you are going to do the bioluminescent kayaking trip for $100.00 from Fajardo know that no one swims in the water there despite the photos, you do get 15 minutes to put your hand in the water and paddle around, and 1 hour 45 minutes of bumping kayaks together to get to the lagoon. The best place to go is Vieques. Planes and ferries stop running in the early evening or you have to stay on Vieques. The best option TH-SUN is a great tour company that takes you on a speed boat to Vieques with complimentary drinks, takes you by taxi to a restaurant for complimentary drinks and dinner, and then on a pontoon to the bioluminscent bay there for swimming. That tour only $100 per person, and would have been immeasurably better than the horrible buggy kayak trip at Fajardo.
Other Comments:
Gran Melia was great. Would rather go many other places in the Carribean than Puerto Rico.
