Great Location, Room great although toilet paper was sparse and trying to get a new roll was interesting!!! no spare in the room, homemaids did not carry ANY on the trolly and had to go to reception to get one. Reception staff very lack luster, rude and not interested in helping. Did not have a drink or meal at the hotel because the staff had the TV turned on so loud it was offensive, particularly first thing in the morning. Overall enjoyed the stay.

Exellent location. Very friendly, helpfull and multilingual staff.

Room Number:
201

Room Block:
2nd floor

Arrival:
Efficient and friendly. Even after the porter had to come up to our room twice to reset the code of the safe, which we had managed to mess up.

Rooms:
Spacious and very clean with a balcony overlooking Calle Amargura and the rooftops across the street, where the residents kept a rooster that was kind enough to wake us up at the break of dawn.. :-)

Restaurants and Bars:
We only had breakfast in the hotel. Twice. But the third morning we couldn't stand the thought of that terrible coffee and breakfast again, so we chose to eat out. That is the only minus about this hotel: breakfast.

Beach/Pools/Grounds:
Nice roof terrace. A pitty that it is barely used ( maybe because it was off-season)but the bartender was always willing to bring drinks upstairs if you
preferred so.

Good Position in Habana Vieja.
I reserved a Junior Suite at the second floor at the corner, so I think one of the best rooms. But it was great to see from outside, less from inside. Old and not really clean furniture. Bad and Mattress really uncomfortable.

After seeing all the other hotels, I am so glad that Hotel Raquel was our home for the week. It definitely had the best character out of all the hotels in the area, with its pillared lobby, stained glass ceiling, and cage elevator, you felt like you were living in the 20s or 30s. The staff was pleasant and the room they gave us (#208) had a nice balcony, as do most of the rooms of the hotel. The location was more than ideal and the hotel itself didn't feel at all touristy, unlike the other hotels in the city. Kind of just felt like we had the place to ourselves. If I had one complaint, I would say that the breakfast is pretty bad, but the food in all of Havana is really bad, so this comes as no surprise. Definitely stay here though, for this place is a gem!

Excellent location and good hotel with very friendly staff. We were very disappointed with the Euro exchange rate (1.27 versus 1.39 official). The official rate was available in other hotels we checked. On one ocassion the receptionist told us in advance but on a previous case they did not - so we 'lost' quite a bit on a Euro100 exchange. This was a major disappointment.

Room Number:
108

Arrival:
Security man needs to advise hotel staff of arrival of guests rather than have them carry their bags up the steps alone.

Rooms:
Beautiful spacious room

Restaurants and Bars:
Breakfast was a bit poor with coffee or 'hot' water often cold
