The Hotel Zapata sits directly on the wonderful white sandy beaches of Boca Chica and the glistening turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

My husband and I have been staying at the Zapata for about 6 years. We began by staying for a few days and now spend a whole month there. The place is as clean as you'll ever find. The rooms are simple but have ac and good sized closets. Most rooms have balconies. Breakfast is included.Lunch and dinner are also available and the food is great. Their rates are quite reasonable. We've met many travelers there and had great conversations around the Tiki bar. This is a family run hotel with Marta and her son Roberto as the main persons for advice and recommendations. The staff is always friendly. They employ some wonderful people from cleaning staff to the main guys who do everything from checking you in to serving drinks. There are nice night watchmen who will open the door for you when you come from town. Marta's family speak Spanish but are also fluent in English as are many of the workers there.
Check in is simple since this is a small hotel.
For the normal taxi fee they will pick you up at the airport. This has always worked well for us. The workers will make sure your bags are taken to your room and instruct you on the use of the tv etc.
The rooms are simple and immaculate, most with a double bed, bedside table, and desk with a stool. There is a nice tiled bath and big closet with a safe, shelves, and hanging area. Most rooms have balconies.
Restaurants and Bars:
The food is great at the Zapata but if you want to take short walk to town there are many good place to eat. We like Swiss Pequena, Italy Italy, De Nancy,
Boca Marina (longer walk) and the guy who has a very small stand where you can have chicken with plantain that my husband craves. At night the main street is closed to traffic and the restaurants serve in or out side with tables in the street.
The front of the hotel is simple with parking for guests. The common areas are attractive with tile floors and nice artwork. The covered outdoor dining room is quite pleasant. The grounds are raked numerous time per day to keep it very clean. In the courtyard there are palms for shade and mini tiki tables next to many lounges for the guests. Also the beach staff will carry a lounge to the beach for you which is just off the courtyard.Yes this is a beach front hotel.
Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
Our main activity is relaxation. There are dive shops on the beach, paddle boats to rent, fishing tour trips, snorkeling trips, trips to the city(Santo Domingo)and more.
