Room Number:
1119
Room Block:
Atrium
Arrival:
Once through the immigration, the baggage carousel and custom, we went to the Couple lounge at the airport. A place to sitdown and enjoy a cold Red Stripe beer while waiting for all the other passengers of the bus. The bus was a small bus going only to the Couple Swept away, about 1H20 from the airport plus the stop a road side bar to get a good rum and coke.
Checking is was done in a breeze while sipping on a glass of bubbly, and then they showed us to our room.
Remember, no tip. I forgot and it was declined with thanks.
Rooms:
We had selected a room in the Atrium section. This is the older section between the Garden section near the road and the villa closer to the beach. It was perfect for us. The room were clean and in excellent shape. No mold in the bathroom with sparkling white grout ... a sure sign.
The room had no TV as expected but had a minibar replenish daily, not expected in this section.
We loved the "plantation" look of the room and the large porch with a hamac and a couch.
The louvers all close down and the AC unit is plenty powerful. The turn down service includes the closing of all the louvers for the night.
Restaurants and Bars:
Excellent all around. The two main restaurant (no reservation needed) at night are full sitdown A la Carte service with one, the Palm, having also a pasta and a salad buffet for people not likng the A la Carte menu. It was nice to be served. Food is excellent and portion are not too big ... I hate overflowing plates. Presentation was top notch. The two restaurant that you need to book were goo. Get a 7H00 reservation at the Lemongrass, get there 10 minutes early and get a table by the torches over looking the pool. Divine.
We had lunch at one or the other beach restaurant so we cannot comment on the main lunch buffet.
Beach/Pools/Grounds:
Super beach. We did not use the pool and there were hardly any body at the pools. We used one of the 3 outside jaccuzi (100F) to warm up after being caught in the rain while we walked on the beach off the resort, going south.
Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
We played with the hobbie sailing boats several times after being given a refresher on sailing. We went snorkling several times (included) and on the sunrise catamaran cruise (included). We played golf. It is included but you need to pay for the caddie and golf rental if you do not have your own. We did not dive, this is also included.
Other Comments:
People were nice. You can reward any of them by mentioning their name and why you liked them on the exit questionnaire. This is worth a lot to them. I assume that the resort has a recognition program.
The one resort I need to go back to. Class act!:
We usually like to change resort each time we travel to the carribean. We have been to many place, liked most, but we always came across one or tow items that we did not like. Normal. Well, not this time. I would go back. I guess we found our match.

We just returned from two fabulous weeks at Couples Swept Away. Let me first say that we are experienced travellers, and very picky, and hard to please. We absolutely LOVED this resort. Almost EVERYTHING not only met our expections, but exceeded them.
Your Arrival:
We arrived mid-day, and found the Couples reception area. We were shuttled to our hotel within 10 minutes of arrival. The drive was long, but the driver was a slower than usual driver (which was fine with us!).
Rooms:
Room - we had a garden verandah room, on the mail floor. The room lacked a little bit in terms of drawer and closet space, but we made do. The air conditioning worked fast, and quietly. The verandah was beautiful. We spent a lot of time there - reading and just relaxing and enjoying the sights and sounds. The bed was a little too firm for me - it actually hurt my hips to lie on my side. My husband found it uncomfortable as well.
Restaurants and Bars:
Food - Almost TOO GOOD! We enjoyed all meals at all 4 restaurants. We ate way too much. Fortunately, we were able to be pretty active, so didn't gain too much weight. The breakfast pastries were the best I've ever had. The service at all restaurants was good. My only complaint would be getting refills of coffee some mornings.
Bars - lots of bars all over the facility. The drink selection was excellent, and service quick and friendly.
Beach/Pools/Grounds:
Beach - Gorgeous! Long, and wide, and well kept, with lots of chairs and floaties.
The pools were clean and again, lots of chairs and chair pads. No need to get up at 6 am to reserve a chair.
Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
Activities - There is a fitness complex across the street from the rooms and restaurants. We spent lots of time there. There is even a lap pool, as well as a fully equipped gym, aerobics room, spa facilities, snack bar, tennis courts, racquet ball and squash, and more.
We are avid tennis players, which was why we chose this particular Couples resort. They have 5 clay courts, plus some hard courts. The instruction was run by a visiting pro (different each week), and 3 local pros. They had daily round robins and group clinics, which were well organized and loads of fun. We played twice a day (most days). The courts were not in great shape when we arrived. However, they worked on each clay court individually while we were there, and by the end of the 2 weeks, all clay courts were in excellent playing condition.
The gym was absolutely fabulous! The equipment was fairly new, and they had a fantastic variety of machines, and free weights. Personal training is even included!
The fitness classes were excellent! They had a packed schedule, with everything you could ever want, from yoga, pilates, zumbah, and step.
Spa - lots of services available. The only thing we did was massage. It was a little pricey. $150 U.S. for 90 minutes.
Other Comments:
We will definitely return to Couples Swept Away!
