Don't carry a tab outside the resort pay as you go, we went to Joe's oyster bar after carrying a tab for drinks for a party of 4 from about 7.30 to 10 15 pm the bill was just under $200 US. We were being charged $15 US for a rum and coke in contrast we payed $20 US at senor frogs for all you can drink from 9.00 to closing and its right next to the El Cid

We just returned from El Cid Castilla Beach hotel and wanted to share our experience.
We were very happy with the resort. There are two other resorts that you are able to visit while staying at “El Cid”. Trip from the airport was uneventful, approx 45 min. We travelled with Westjet Vacations.
Check in went smooth, other than of course the “timeshare”. Unfortunately you are surrounded as soon as you check in on your way to the room. We were able to break free but were tracked down the following morning. With a firm No, didn’t have any other issues while on the resort.
Room was an oceanview, a bit extra. The regular rooms also had a bit of ocean view but they were a bit older than the tower ocean view that we had. Room was clean, great view. Beds the normal double, bit firm but fine.
Food at buffets, typical but always something to eat. No issues booking the a la cartes, again maybe because we took the 8pm supper hours.
Staff, I must say, was exceptional. Very very helpful and friendly.
Of course, like others, one needed to rise early to “save the chairs”. Must say though, that there always was a chair available, may not have been a prime location. Our pool at El Cid was heated! Nice. Pool next door was not. Bit cooler but bigger than ours. The pool at the third hotel across the road, we never went in mind you, small but heated as well – so we were told.
Beach was nice, quite a few “selling their wares” but a no thank you was good. Until the next one
This is a quick review but one I wanted to put on. I know I always want to check out others opinions and wanted to add mine to the rest.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about resort. El cid in the subject line, so I don’t delete.
