Was arranged with our travel agent and the hotel. We took the scenic route and stopped for photo's and a beer over looking Dennery. The driver was a very helpful tour guide and the long ride was worth it. Even the kids enjoyed.
The room was clean and a nice size for the four of us with a view of the ocean and tow bathrooms.
Restaurants and Bars
Reading some other reviews I am not sure I was at the same place. The staff stood back some until they found out what we were looking for, then they were great. The food was fantastic and the variety was good. The staff ensured we had enough and gave suggestions for activities for the day when we asked.
The Beach was clean and the water sport staff were excellent about sailing and helping us when we needed it. The pools were clean and at one point one was drained for cleaning but there were still others to use so it was fine. In fact the kid pool put me closer to snacks and the bar.
Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel
We did the Brig Unicorn and it was well worth the money for both myself and the kids. I did a dive with Dive Fair Helen and then With Rainbow divers on the Beach. I preferred Marie and Judy (The Mermaid) the trip was more relaxed and it was me and my family so I got to see more then on the crowded boat dive. Both dives were good but next time I would just use Marie's services.
When you go on holiday If you look cranky the staff are likely to stay away. Remember you are on holiday and the staff are still working a little respect can make your holiday excellent.

Restaurants and Bars:
Wait staff at all the restaurants and bars were not friendly. At "The Palms" where you could get mostly snacks, they had no pizza left for our lunch, when we asked if they were going to make any more, the answer was - MAYBE? and looked away. There were 5 waiters/waitresses and not one of them were doing anything. Do they not realize we have access to the Reviews and that 2009 is most likely going to be a bad year? Guess not!
The people behind the bars just need to smile more and remember that we are their customers!

We took a family vacation in early March. We had read a number of reviews on line about unclean pools and unfriendly wait staff. I found it the opposite. If you were friendly, they were friendly. The St Lucian's are a reserved people. It is something you have to get used to. The formality can be misunderstood. But if you ask questions and talk to them, they are more than happy to answer you and talk. They don't want to bother you cause "your on vacation" I heard that a number of times. We got to know their names, and they saw us coming, so as soon as we went into the dining area, we would see them start smiling. We laughed alot with them, and found out so much once we asked. Every morning we saw the pools being cleaned, and really were surprised by some of the negative comments we had heard.
The water sports are great. My husband signed up everyday for water skiing and there was always room for him. He also sailed with our kids everyday and did the banana boat ride. We also arrived very late in the evening, and of course, all the restauants in the resort were closed. Very kindly, they had left a cold plate in our rooms with a selection of items and a large bottle of water. It was a nice touch.
We enjoyed breakfast at the Palms and seeing Agnus every morning at the omellette station. She is amazing!
A la carte dining is very nice here. The food at all the restaraunts had a french flare, but in a very carribean way. Fresh local fruit and veggies in each dish. My mouth is actually watering as I write this. Oh, and most importantly, you can eat all the food and drink all the drinks (including water) without worrying about getting sick. No one in our resort had any intestinal problems. We met alot of people there and talked about the food often, everyone seemed to be in agreement. It was very good quality!
I just want to say, to everyone considering this vacation, take what you read with a grain of salt. You don't know anyones basis for comparison. We normally go to Mexico to vacation, but after the Almond, we will never go to Mexico again.
