Arrival: January 17 - 27
delayed due to Delta, taxi ride is long, an hour, through treacherous roads.
Rooms:
Amazing views, we had honeymoon oceanview, if you look at Sandals.com map for this resort, it was building 8, the last one on the right. Amazing
Restaurants and Bars:
Lots to choose from buffets, french, teppanese, italian, american burgers and pizza. the caribbean buffets could have been better, our fav was the Piton restaurant.
Beach/Pools/Grounds:
Clean, glamorous, excess water constantly being cleaned up, towels always being picked up, grounds were amazing, no complaints here
Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
shopping downtown castries, all day catamaran to Soufriere, both fabulous. 2 other resorts you get shuttled to, no hassles at all, amazing
Other Comments:
we were sad to leave as we felt we had a new family, the staff was amazing, from bartenders to housekeeping, not a single complaint.

Arrival: 1-31-09 to 2-7-09
Awesome arrival, VIP check in, wine, beer whatever you wanted. Then to our room. Not the one we booked but ....
Rooms:
They had called us two weeks before our trip and asked us if we wanted an upgrade for 500.00 to a "better room". We said okay if not on the bluff...we knew we did not want to be there. Sure enough our room was on the bluff. After 2 hours on phone with front desk they moved us to a most beautious room ocean front 2 story villa. Needless to day...squeeky wheel gets the oil.
Restaurants and Bars:
OK, not great. Service at French restaurant very slow I mean snails pace.
Not like they are short on time only two seatings at night. Food was good, nothing spectacular.
Beach/Pools/Grounds:
Absolutely great, extremely clean, plenty of towels, chairs, no chair hogs, probably because resort was not full.
Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
Yes, go out with Elvis!!!!! He works the beach and gives the best tours for less than the hotel charges. Did 2 tours while there.
Other Comments:
I would recommend this resort. We had a great time. It is definitely not a
5 star resort but pretty close. The only caveat was a major flu bug during our stay and about 60% of the resort got sick including me!!!!

I just returned from a week at Sandals Regency in St. Lucia. I have now been to all the Sandals Resorts- with the exception of Sandals Antigua. We loved the rooms and the quality of food here. The location is very nice as well. The activities offered and all the inclusions are excellent too. Our only complaint was that the service quality was intermittent. At times it was spectacular and at others, HORRIBLE. It left us feeling very confused about the direction Sandals is heading.
I feel like I need to mention the fact that the beaches in St. Lucia are all public. I personally like this chance to mingle with the locals and I met some very nice people but I did hear others complaining, very loudly and rudely, about the children playing on the beach. I understand it is a couples only resort but if this is something that will bother you, you might want to consider another destination. ALL of St. Lucia’s beautiful beaches are public.
All in all I think it is a great resort in a fabulous destination. As a travel agent I won’t hesitate to send my clients back there, but with a warning about the sporadic service! Don’t miss the French Restaurant, La Toc or the Caribbean Restaurant, Pitons. They were both outstanding! The rooms up on the bluff all have spectacular views and extra amenities like butler service but beware that they are quite a distance from the “main” pool area and restaurants. (There is shuttle service 24 hours a day to take you up and down the hill.) All of the regular rooms in the main section have recently been renovated and we heard no complaints from anyone about them while we were there. (With those rooms beware that some don’t offer balconies or patios so be specific when you book them!)
If you have any other questions please email me- I’m happy to talk about my travels! beth@aplustravel.net

I have read many reviews on this site and finally I am sitting down to post one of my own to hopefully give some insight to someone planning a trip!
I stayed at the Sandals Regency in St. Lucia from Feb 11 - 18th 2008.
Overall we were really happy with this resort and Island Destination.
St.Lucia is a very gorgeous Island - we have seen many caribbean islands and this is one of the top three (Other favs. would be St. Maarten & Tobago) St.
Lucia is lush and friendly.
Yes the drive from the airport is windy and hilly - but that is the beauty of the island, enjoy the scenery! The road is good - it looks like most of the road has recently been re-paved - it is mostly a smooth ride.
Our room was nice, just like the pictures - 4 poster bed, seating area, flat screen tv, good size bathroom. We were on the main floor so we had a patio just off the pool & hottub. The other rooms above us only had sliding doors that opened - no balcony at all. We were happy we got a patio we could sit and listen to the 5 oclock fun at the pool - the volley ball games etc.. or a couple days we even brought the breakfast buffet back to our patio to eat.
The food on the whole was quite good. We really did not like Kimono's. You don't go down south to get great Japanese food. My husband had the sushi appetizer and said it was pretty bad. we didn't have high expectations, but to go to the trouble of booking a reservation - I would just skip this restaurant. We enjoyed Armando's - it is great, we had breakfast there almost every day. They have WAY better coffee up at Armando's than at the Pavilion restaurant (it's pretty bad coffee down there) Armando's is an a la carte breakfast with eggs benny! It was good. they also do lunch and nice dinner up there. Yes the lasagna is very good - I didn't believe it so I had to try it!
We also ate lunch and dinner at Arizona's - that was good. Yummy burgers at lunch, and great ribs at dinner (the Ribeye steak, not so good)
We went to The Halcyon for Dinner at The Pier restaurant - Very very good.
Friends had the Filet Mignon there and really liked it, I had the chicken breast (which I don't order chicken out alot, but this was nice with real shrimp and a nice lobster butter sauce) and my hubby had the Mahi Mahi and really liked it. Apparently the snapper was not so good. If you are a couple - try to go early and ask for one of the tables on the patio - these look sooooo romantic. I think there are only 2 tables out there so good luck, but it seemed worth it if you could get it. we didn't realize they were out there - they don't advertise that anywhere.
One night - a sat. night some friends went to The Grande for dinner and they said there was an amazing outside seafood buffet - the tables meandered all around the lawn and had tables of clams and shrimp and also a roast beef, they said it was very good and really a nice idea.
DayTrips - we did the catamaran all day tour - it was ok. It was $105 per person and you go on the catamaran in the a.m. to soufriere I think, then a bus up to the sulphur springs - not that great, and to the botanical gardens
- we really liked the gardens, very pretty. then to lunch - really great locale restaurant, then back to the boat and a stop to snorkel. We didn't think the snorkelling was that great. we did see massive sea urchins a few big fish, but mostly small stuff. like most tours all the boats stop at the same place throughout the day, so the fish probably get scared off or you get kicked in the head by some other snorkeler...I wish we had done the ropes course in the jungle thing, or the 1/2 jeep safari, friends did that with the rasta guys and said it was really fun, they were really educated on the island and the plantation and it was really nice scenery.
Beach - the beach at the regency is not very long, but it is nice.
unfortunately for us the red flag was up almost every day. the waves were crazy! we went out on the yellow flag days and really got banged around by the waves, it was a bit scary. The beach at the grande is longer but not much wider, the swimming would be better becuase the water is calmer, but you would get bothered by more tour guys trying to sell you day trips (at the regency there is none of that which is good & bad, you only have the option of the trip through the hotel with their prices)
NightLife - Not much nightlife at the Regency. They do have some ok shows after dinner in the Pavilion - the steel drum band was great, and another night they had some more drummers on the bongo drums - they were awesome!
but Kareoke night was pretty bad and valentine's night was an overdose of cheezyness! Definatly go the "The Street Party" on friday night. it is alot of fun.
The bartender "Auguste" at the main swim up took us, he arranged a taxi bus for 8 of us, and he stuck with us all night. I definatly recommend trying to find someone from the hotel to take you, they take care of you. It is a night in a small town where they close off the main street and set up food and beer tables and have a big dance in the intersection, it is alot of locals and tourists dancing together. We danced a bit with the locales but as it got later into the night we got off the dancefloor. then around 12:30 we headed home. It was alot of fun - we were all looking for a night of fun and dancing. definatly don't be afraid to try the local food vendors, the chicken was great!
Hotel Grounds - very nice, we found everything clean and most staff friendly. a couple grumpies here and there, but don't we all get grumpy once in awhile. My husband misplaced his camera one night and we got it back the next day - something to be said about both the guest who returned it and the staff who kept it safe in her office until we came to claim it!
Pools - we favoured the pool up by Armando's - the bluffs pool. If you get on one of the 3 decks just off the pool they are an awesome way to spend a day, looking out over the ocean on a teak sun bed with a mattress, and even the bartender would pop by with his 'drink of the day'. we found the waterfalls there a bit loud, so on the decks you can't even hear it. just watch the ships go by!
we were with about 40 other couples and I think the majority enjoyed the food and the hotel.
P.S. read about reviews where people saw rats and yes we actaully did see some, I thought these reviewers were on drugs, but they were there one night jumping on the grass around the restaurant...I'm sure there are rats everywhere we go, we just don't have the climate to sit around and see them you know. The place was clean - I never would have guessed we would see them.
We really liked the regency and would go back again!

We just spent a week at this Sandal's and must say we were dissapointed. First let me point out that St Lucia is a beautiful island, it will leave you breathless. Do try the Gondola tour in the Rain Forest it is worth every penny.
If your stomach is a bit queasy the 1 hour ride from the airport is bound to make your sick, do take a gravol. As for the Resort, registration was quick, beautiful landscape, the room was superb, very nice golf course caddys are great, the Spa very very nice. Of all the people who work there the groundkeepers and the chambermaids were the most friendly, whatever they get paid is not enough, very nice people. The biggest advantage of staying at a Sandals is that you have access to all three Sandals on the Island, the beach at Sandals Grand is the best.
Most dissapointing was the Pavillon restaurant which is the main breakfast dinning room. Besides the fact that flies and birds are sweeping at your food, the staff is most unfriendly. It does not open until 7:30 am right on the nose, you get the feeling that they are on a work to rule order of some kind as they are not quite ready for you, not matter what time you happen to show up. Granted I must say that it appeared they work very long hours, but breakfast time was not a pleasant experience, for them or for us. As for the food itself it was just ok, at least the birds seemed to like it. Coffee!! let's just say that coffee is not their specialty, but they do make a vey good omelette. Of all the resorts and restaurants we have experienced in our travels, this was the worst. As for the other restaurants, they do have a good french cuisine, an italian, a steak house and a japanese. The Japanese (Kimono) staff were friendly and the food was very good. The steak house - Arizona, was very good as well.
As for the Bartenders... not sure what happened there? Except for 1 or 2 who appeared to know what they were doing and could mix a good drink without rolling their eyes at you, the rest appeared to be on training, and not happy about it. Most, acted as though you were interupting them, they did not listen to what you asked for, mixed a whole bunch of stuff together, added a lot of ice and called it a drink. The beer is safe and good, you can't mess this up too much, you just can't ask for more then one at a time.
All in all this Sandal's is over rated!! not worth the extra money......

Arrival -
The one hour ride from the airport was so much fun. Our driver gave us interesting facts about St. Lucia, stopped so we could buy the local beer (Piton), pointed out homes and points of interest. When we arrived at the resort, we were greeted with champagne. Registration went quickly and painlessly, due mostly in part to checking in online before we left.
Rooms -
Our room was better than we could have imagined. We had the honeymoon grand luxe beach front. Some friends we made while there had a concierge suite, and our parents had the premiere level rooms (garden view only). We all decided that no matter what price you pay for your room, all the accomodations at the Regancy are fantastic.
Restaurants -
The food was excellent! Take advantage of the shuttle between resorts! The Pier at the Halcyon was a favorite of ours. But our most favorite was La Toc, where we had our wedding dinner. The steak we ate at each restaurant was surprisingly excellent! And Cowboy Eddie at Arizona's is a must see!
Bars -
Of course the swim up bars were our favorite. How can you go wrong floating in the pool with a tropical drink?
Beach and Pools -
The beach was very clean! And each of the pools offered a different, but spectacular view. The sunset pool is not to be missed.
Grounds -
The grounds were kept very clean and tidy.
Activities -
We took part in snorkelling (twice - and they took us to a different location the second time upon our request) and took the hobi-kat out. Games and such at the resort were fun, whether you watched or participated. It wasn't until our last day that we found out there was para-sailing at one of the other Sandals. Guess we'll be going back!
Tours -
We chose to do the Canopy Zip Line. This was fantastic! It's a thrill and very cool to see the rainforest from a different point of view. This is a do not miss! We even had a woman with us who was affraid of heights, and she loved it!
Conclusion -
We had our "weddingmoon" at Sandals the week before Thanksgiving. The wedding was much more than we imagined. We did the "twilight" wedding package, and were not at all disappointed!!! Photography and videography was excellent! I just told them I wanted purple tropical flowers, I didn't select from a picture. And they were gorgeous! Our reception was great fun, and our dinner was most memorable (we had a personalized menu with our names and wedding date). We returned from our dinner expecting to change clothes and go party; but we found a rose petal candle light bubble bath waiting for us. So we chose to stay in.
This was our first Sandals experience, as well as the first wedding for each of us.
We can't imagine anything better!
We are definitely going to return to Sandals for our anniversary!!!

I have just returned from staying at Sandals La Toc in St. Lucia in the Royal One Bedroom Two story resort villa suite; villa number was 813. It is the top accommodations at this resort. The villas are located up at the top of the resort on a most scenic bluff. The very first morning I opened my curtains, I looked out into the beautiful seas and saw a lone sailboat about 6 am and then not far away was the Magnificent Queen Mary 2 cruise ship lowering the life boats to accommodate the passengers for their day tours on the island of St.Lucia. Words fall short of the truly exceptional sight that was in front of me last Friday morning! The villa was most spacious offering a large bedroom, large Jacuzzi tub and ample size bath room area. My bedroom and bath area were all on the same level; this is the level that I actually walked into the villa; then there were stairs (15, I did count them) that led down to the lower floor of the villa where the large and roomy living room was located along with a completely filled and well stocked bar and refrigerator offering up many of the top brands of various types of alcohols including well known brands of scotch, liquors, whiskies, red and white wines, along with local beers and of course champagne. It is there for your use during your entire stay and it is replaced as it is consumed. I then stepped outside on my patio where there were 2 chaise lounges along with steps leading down into the plunge pool (4'6" deep). I could relax in this plunge pool and look out from this incredible bluff and see dozens of miles out to sea as well as see all of the sailboats, fishing boats, water sports activity boats................parasailing.wow...yes ..........it was like I was in dreamland.
My villa came with a butler and I always wondered what a butler does.Upon arrival, we were escorted to the bluff section for a private check in in the Bluff Lounge that was designed for guests that are staying in the villas with butler service. I was introduced to a butler (who was stepping in to assist my regular butler who was busy with other duties at that moment). My temporary butler's name was Auguste and he was excellent as you will see. After being escorted to the villa, Auguste then proceeded to walk me through the villa to show me everything that would help to enhance my vacation and then the ultimate...............please allow me to unpack your bags. Well, I've never had this service before and what a service. The butler service offers many details to help make your stay most memorable. I would like to share the some of the details they will assist with; however it is most important to communicate with your butler upon arrival the services you would like to have provided. I asked for a list of the services provided as that will be helpful in knowing what you can expect. Staying in the villas that provide butler service is the most expensive and I think that everyone should be able to be very knowledgeable about all that is available.
Some of the details and services butlers provide are:
unpacking clothes; breakfast in bed; arrange tours for you; if you want your clothes laundered, they will follow through with that request, however there is an extra charge for the laundry service; pre-reserve lounge chairs around the pools (yes even the ones with the carriage tops on them). (they place names right on the lounges- reserved for M/M Smith); if you're on the beach and need something from your villa, yes they will get it for you; want a cocktail every night at 6, they'll be there to prepare, desire a specific table in the specialty restaurants, they will reserve for you; will re-pack your items for departure.
Yes, by now, you have a good idea of what they do.
Up on the bluff level at the resort, there is a specialty Italian restaurant where we ate our last night there and I will tell you the food choices were excellent as well as the food very good. Good choices of appetizers as well as entrees. The desserts offered a few choices and I did find one that was perfect for me. The first night at the resort we at the Pitons Restaurant, which was sitting high on a hillside and a most exceptional view. The fish that I got that night came fried and that was not a favorite. They do feature many hot and spicy dishes, so I learned early on to advise them, not to put the sauces and spices on my meals. Everyday, many choices of the fresh catch of the day and I do believe every single day, I had different types of fish selections which I enjoyed. I did ask for them to be grilled after my first fried experience. There are of course the open air verandah restaurants that offer the typical buffets. I did find the service slow at times and one does have to be prepared for island time. Then, we did go over to the other 2 Sandals which offers different restaurants to dine. The Pier at Halcyon is very popular; however the one that I heard most people talk about was Gordon's over at the Grand. We did not get a chance to experience that one; however some of the resorts' guests that I spoke with that did eat at Gordon's, really confirmed that was the one place to be sure and have dinner. Sandals does provide free shuttles to the other 2 resorts on the island. Some of the restaurants require reservations while others do not. I believe that Gordon's did require reservations while The Pier did not. Be sure to inquire upon arrival what days which restaurants are opened. WE wanted to go to the Japanese restaurant on Sunday night and discovered it was closed. To avoid disappointments, ask upon arrival the restaurant schedules. I wished we would have done that.
Sandals does offer lots of choices for water sports activities, pools are generally huge and the staff is most friendly. Yes, I do believe it offers a good value in the fact that it is all inclusive. I do want to point out one thing in the restaurants: I do enjoy various wines and they serve Berringer Wines for their house wines. Berringer does have some nice wines. One night the waiter presented me with the wine list and I saw many expensive bottles on the menu. I decided to drink the Berringers and that worked just fine for me. If you want the more expensive wines, they are some that are available.
They also offer a tour desk which has many options available. We did get off the resort and did some boating and visited Castries market; great fun. Truly, the local people are so friendly. The market is a great place to buy all of the spices that the restaurants serve. Reasonable prices!
One last note, one day we went to Ladera Resort for brunch on Sunday at their restaurant, DaShenes, which has great reviews everywhere one can read. The cost of the brunch was $25.00 pp and I must confess, it was absolutely fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend to all........don't miss this restaurant. The twin peaks of THE PITONS are your view and I must tell you it was definitely a not to be missed restaurant. One of the most famous items on the menu is the sweet potato fries: yellow on the outside and white on the inside. Hands down, they are the best French fries I've ever tasted. If you do have questions, please feel free to email me at myronm@comcast.net. I will be delighted to share any and all information.

We went to Sandal's Regency St. Lucia in February of this year and this was our first time ever staying at a Sandal's Resort before. Never in all of our travels were we so disappointed in the service and overall cleanliness in any of the other places we have stayed.
Check in was as a group and very lengthy, we were given a room other than booked, with no explanation. (It turns out that I was glad, because the people in those rooms complained of big cock roaches)
Outside our door one evening was a DEAD BAT with it's wings removed??? There was an odor of spoiled food lingering and construction was two doors down.
The beach had trash on it, and rats ran by my feet as we walked to dinner. Server's watered down my diet coke in front of me. Complaints resolved nothing nor did our travel agent complaining to Sandals.
NEVER would I stay at a Sandals again, and I strongly encourage anyone spending their money looking for a quality vacation and a place to relax and enjoy to book another resort!!!

My fiancee Jean and I recently returned from a mid-March six night stay at the Sandals Grande in Castries, Saint Lucia, W.I. We had a wonderful time.
We flew into the Vigie Airport from San Juan International airport. First-time visitors there should be prepared for an invigorating landing - the airport's runway seems to begin at the water's edge. After checking through the airport, our Sandals rep. drove us to the resort without incident. Our luggage had missed the flight, but the American Eagle rep. at the airprort was very polite and helpful and the luggage showed up at the Resort later that evening. The Grande is beautiful. The grounds are wonderfully maintained. Our room was fine. The maid service, especially the consistency of the turn-down service, checking for towel needs, etc., was very good.
We had a concierge room and the service was very good. Whenever we had a question, needed dinner reservations or more water or soda, they were very helpful.
If you want to make a dinner reservation at the Regency or the Halcyon, make it as soon as you get there. We got into Kimonos at the Regency only because there was a cancellation. All of the restaurants were excellent, the service very good.
Our favorites were Marios at The Halcyon, Toscaninni's at the Grande, Kimonos at the Regency, The Pier at Halcyon. The Bayside buffet and the Beach outside restaurant were also very good. Josephones has very nice chocolate crepes!
The highlight of our vacation was th ebeautiful Pigeon Island nature reserve next door to Sandals. it has some medium rigorous hiking and absolutely breathtaking views of the Atlantic and Rodney Bay and the mountains beyond. The gentle beaches are great for our amateur level snorkelling and hanging out. (The cruise ships and resorts do a day trip there.) Pigeon Island costs five bucks to get into - the admission is good for the day - and beach chairs are two bucks for the day. Between snorkelling there, hanging out on the beach, hiking, going to the other resorts to dine, and hanging out at the very nice pools (only one small complaint - the construction noise next door to the pool we liked the best - but that was hardly Sandal's fault and the noise wasn't all the time) we had a great vacation. We are going to explore further inland the next time we are there. We wanted to familiarize ourselves with one end of the island at a time - plus we don't always enjoy the long car rides on unfamiliar roads that some 'tours' become. But as far as we could tell, the people who availed themselves of the tours had no complaints.
We can't emphasize enough how professional and responsive the staff was. They also aren't kidding about 'no tips'. We tried a couple of times when we first arrived and were turned down politely. We have never stayed at a Sandals before but will certainly return.
So, if you want a restful, beautiful, serene Caribbean experience with good food and a pleasant place to stay, we can certainly recommend the Sandals Grande in Saint Lucia and The Pigeon Island Nature Reserve next door. Beautiful.......

My wife and I went there for our honeymoon October 2004 and were disappointed. I have never submitted a review before but I don't want people to have the same expectations as us. Don't get me wrong, the resort was nice but in my opinion way over priced. I've stayed at better resorts for a lot less. I would say this resort is a 3.5 star.
When we arrived at 1:45 in the afternoon, we didn't get a room until after 6:00 instead of 2:00 like we were promised. Our bags didn't arrive until 9:30 at night so our first day was wasted.
Our room was downgraded and the explanation we were given was simply "we're overbooked and there's nothing we can do". As a result, we couldn't order room service because it wasn't available in the room they downgraded us to even though it was available in the room we paid for.
Our room was really small, musty/smelly, really far from the beach, and had lizards (I know this comes with the territory) The beach is public and there were more locals (mostly children) on the beach than people staying at the hotel Bartenders would tell you how little money they made out of the blue
Breakfast buffet area flooded with birds feasting at the tables on people's leftovers because they staff are too busy chatting to clean the tables when someone is finished. They do bring you to your table well and bring you coffee and juice right away though. Food overall was really good.
One night there was a group of 10 people that came back from the "Booze Cruise" really loaded and decided to go swimming completely naked in the main pool, alongside the nightly entertainment. The staff would bring them bottles of liquor and glasses in the pool. They got better service than anyone else I saw at the resort. Also, they seemed to think it was very amusing to pee in the pool. Needless to say, we couldn't use the pool the rest of our time there.
The Spa services I had were top notch, the only annoying thing was you were solicited to go to the Spa every time you walked through the lobby.
Overall, this resort isn't bad but the mistake we made was we were expecting a 5 star resort and this resort is definitely not 5 star but it could be.

Here is my review. We had an awesome time. Thanks Sean (Hlywud) for taking the time to calm my nerves after seeing such trash posted on some web sites! It truly was a dream vacation for us! We some minor issues, but NO PRESSURE, NO PROBLEM MON! :)
Just returned from spending 7 glorious nights in the Sandals Regency, La Toc, St. Lucia. We left Toronto (1 hour late.. thanks to de-icing the plane!) on February 14, and returned Feb 21st (also 1 hour late... due to weather conditions in Toronto)
I am usually one that writes long reviews but to save some time and in order for me to get back to my routine I will not be doing that. Instead, I suggest you read Hlywuds' review who traveled on January 31st. It's on the money, precisely to the point! So if I do repeat something that was previously written, sorry!
Weather: Fantastic! It was a bit wet the first couple of days.. just some scattered showers, and clouds then it only seemed to rain at night, but they sure do get some rain. However it hovered between 29 - 30 C all week.
We were in room 70 over the Honeymoon suites, just by the tennis courts.. but in the middle section. The room was fabulous! No holds barred. 4 poster mahogany bed, king-sized! Lovely French period furniture, mahogany as well. Nice curtains and 2 wing chairs, 2 night stands. Makeup table with a chair (although I preferred the bathroom lighting) Ceramic on the floor (bring some old slippers, I did, makes it more comfy, I don't like walking with sandy shoes) Having a room in the lowest category, I was a bit apprehensive thinking that I would get a smaller bed.. no way at Sandals.. All their resort rooms have king beds! The location of this room is also one of the quietest areas. Sure we had a small hill to climb (we were at the left, top side of the resort) but I just loved it! Our room was over a plunge pool room, no balcony or patio (which I did miss, but we were able to open 2 sets of windows) Just wonderful hearing and seeing birds flutter by. We also had a view of the ocean, and could see the cruise ships entering the sea so that was nice. I will post some photos once I get these sorted out!
Coffee maker in room, (not necessary in an all inclusive but for those who can't wait, it is available) there was also a walk in closet,.. with lots of storage.. an iron and ironing board too, as well a nice sized safe. Plus good news for us ladies who can't leave without their curling irons... plug it in by the coffee maker.. it will accommodate it! It's by the mirror as well, very convenient. Room was clean.. and big! lovely colors. We were so shocked to come back on our first night and noticed our bed was turned down and fresh towels replaced with the wet ones we had just used after our shower. This happened every night, except our last, so I am not sure if we were just left out or if it happens to all on their final night. But NO PRESSURE, NO PROBLEM MON! You will hear a lot of that.. and there were NO PROBLEMS.. not one so ever... the only thing that went amiss is my salad not coming one night at the Pavillion Restaurant.. but I didn't miss it as I was almost full!
We didn't visit the spa, but the grounds around it are nice. The Exercise area was awesome. All kinds of equipment to be used.
Well one thing that was amiss was the red flag days. Out of 6 (I can't comment on our arrival day) it was red for 4 of them. My husband loves the water and can handle the waves, but Sandals policy is when the red flag is up, no one is to go in. However this is why you have the option to spend your days at the Halcyon or the Grande. Their beaches are relatively more calmer and you'll find lots of watersports (water skiing and water tubing (totally fun) at the Grande.) Just don't complain, get on the shuttle and go. It's for your safety and also for the better for all. There is nothing worse to see on vacation, than someone being pulled out of the water because they were hurt or had drowned due to inexperienced swimming skills. The ocean is a powerful force of nature and one that must be respected. But they also have one of the largest pools in the Eastern Caribbean, great photo opportunities too.
Do try and hook up with another couple and take a private tour together. I received a tip from Hlywud to call up Yasson and arrange a tour with him. Well thanks for the tip! He actually showed me your card Hlywud and Yasson says hello! He's a great young fella... and has access to a few cars as his brother is in the tour/taxi business. We were in a Mitsubishi SUV, air conditioned and full of comfort. It beat the heck out of traveling with 8-10 other couples. The price of the tour was $140.00 US and we seen the southwest part of the islands. This price is good for up to 4 people. And he brought us drinks in a cooler and also some snacks. However, after our huge breakfast, we couldn't eat anything. So if you wish his cell number, please email me. Again highly recommended and for your info, most tours started at $65 US anyway, so for an extra $5.00 US a person, you will get a wonderful air-conditioned car, and can stop at anytime. Please stop at Castries and go to the market.. mementos there are cheaper than at the resort shop.
I will add to what's been said. For those of us who have gone to Cuba or the Dominican and I bet even Mexico and said, "what bland food... no taste etc." your mouth will not be prepared for what you will be getting at the Sandals Regency. Our regret was not being able to stay 14 nights and be able to eat at all 3 resorts at a pace. It was one treat after another, meal after meal. Even breakfast was something out of this world. Bagels, toasts, Crab cakes and poached eggs, pancakes, French toast (massive!)...omelets that would fill you up completely (made to order too and they were quick in doing them!) Fresh fruits, cheeses and cold cuts too. But one bit of advice, which is a shame if you can't do this ahead of time, if you can reserve your dinners before even leaving home.. do so! Email the concierge dept. one week before leaving. We did before hand and were able to secure our reservations for Kimonos, and La Toc. Make sure you get a confirmation and bring it with you. I had one mixup but it was honoured at Kimonos when our number and name did not show up on the list. Unfortunately I missed out on The Pier (at the Halycon, for Seafood) which is amazing from what we heard. But that's ok.. now we HAVE to go back!
Another remark about food, the water is safe to drink and no one that I knew was ever sick! And I never heard one complaint about anything. The only thing I did find strange was the disco which is pretty much the only place to get a drink after midnight, was not busy at all. So I guess people sleep early to rise early. We tend to call it a night at 2:30 a.m or so and are still up at 7:30. The only thing that I found a bit negative was the amount of rap being played. Having been exposed to the 70's disco era I would have expected a better selection of music. But once again NO PRESSURE, NO PROBLEM MON and we went with the flow! We closed the Disco twice that week.
The employees treated us like we were special people. They didn't know if we were in a standard room or in the bluffs, it didn't matter to them. Everyone was polite, obliging and went out of their way to make sure you had the holiday of your life. If something was not right, they made it right. We had no snobbish remarks, didn't at anytime sense that they were ignoring us. Just lovely and kind people they all were. For many of us it was our first time. For many others there… it was their 6th!
So this is my "mini" review. We had a blast. I will admit that I had tears to shed on my final night. This was our second best holiday ever. I was relaxed and content. All my co-workers see a calming in my face, although my tan could have been darker, my holiday has given me a glow. I am so relaxed and am ready to tackle this world until I go on another holiday. I am not one to go to a resort twice in a row, but if the opportunity came up again, I would be there in a heartbeat.
My thanks to all the staff at the resort and also, and you will probably think I'm losing it.. thanks to Air Canada Vacations and the Sandals Executives for allowing this spur of the moment special that came up over New Years Weekend.. Yes... for those of us, that were not very hung over and seen it, it's our best find yet! I waited 6 weeks to go on this holiday, not knowing what was waiting for me. I will definitely keep my eyes open at the same time next year! The price for us both to go would have got us in Cuba or the Dominican for 2 weeks in a 4 star resort. We received 6 star quality in my opinion. Worth every penny we paid and in the end that's what counts.
So my final words are, when you sit on the beach on "Hump day", the middle day of the week, which would have been Thursday for us, and you look at your spouse and say, "Honey, I can't remember the day we arrived", you know that you have completely let go of all your worries and troubles. My email address is rustysheba@hotmail.com Should you wish to contact me with specific info, please do so. Happy travels to all.
