Pink Fancy Hotel - Saint Croix The Wrights ~ Texas
January 2002

We recently spent 8 days on Saint Croix in the US Virgin Islands and we certainly will return. One of the reasons our trip was so wonderful was the hotel we ended up selecting, totally by accident. It was The Pink Fancy Hotel in the town of Christiansted. When we arrived and walked through the gates we knew we had found a hidden treasure. The main building was first constructed in the 18th century. It has had many lives over the centuries, once as a private home for a famous Broadway actress. The current owners took over the hotel about 3 years ago and began a major renovation. Many locals, when told of where we were staying, told us how proud they are of the renovation of the old hotel. The grounds are lusciously landscaped with tropical plants, flowers, fountains and walking paths. In the center of the complex is a beautiful tile pool, perfectly shaded on one side, with bright sun shining down on the other. The owners, using tropical vegetation and comfortable furniture, have created and are still constructing several areas around the grounds where you can go to simply get away and relax. But the real attractions at the Pink Fancy are it rooms, especially if you enjoy antique Victorian furniture. The new owners once owned an antique shop and they have furnish each room with collectables. From Empire dressers to Eastlake desks to large king size four poster beds, the rooms at the Pink Fancy are almost too good to be true. The location of the hotel was perfect. It is within 3 blocks of the main shopping and tourist areas. Close enough to walk to, but far enough away to be out of the noise. The owners, David and Motasem, are very friendly and knowledgeable. They greet you as you come and go and provide a continental breakfast each morning. They go out of their way booking tours, advising on restaurants, getting reservations, doing all they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We certainly hope to return soon.
